The Name olaao

The name olaao originated as an idea during my stay in a Portuguese-speaking country. It is derived from the greeting “olá”, which means “hello.”

Because diacritics cannot be used in domain names, the letter “á” was replaced with two letters “aa.” The name olaao (pronounced oláo) therefore directly originates from the greeting and symbolizes openness and simplicity.

Optimization is a core principle of the entire system. The requirement to offer the service free of charge or for a minimal fee is only possible if the system is designed to be highly efficient and well optimized.

For this reason, the architecture of olaao has been designed from the very beginning with a strong emphasis on performance, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
